From Bricks to Clicks

I hear a lot of hoopla and hype these days from "The 6 and 7 Figure Launch Club" - you know, those digital marketers who are out there crushing it online. They make an offer, and their email list (including you too, perhaps?) rushes to purchase it, leading to a product launch which generates tens of thousands of dollars within a week to 10 days of announcing a new digital product. The internet is full of opportunity, and it's so inspiring to see, right???

Now I love a good “Rags-to-Riches” story as much as anyone, and over the last 20 years that I’ve been involved in online marketing, I’ve seen my share of “business bling” and “being a boss”. I also know that there are a lot of snake oil salespeople out there, selling the dream of “working from home”. While those folks seem to be "crushing it" online, some of their methods never seem to work, even those programs that cost $2500+. In fact, attempting their "5-figure strategies” was a quick way to become broke and frustrated!

Only in the past ten years or so have I witnessed an incredible amount of transparency in how people are actually making money online – including those people making 5-6 figures during a single launch of their product.

The cool thing I learned, though, is that every single one of the internet rocks stars did NOT make 5 figures out of the gate.

Most of them had “training wheel” businesses before they got started. The woman who now kills it online teaching webinars had her breakthrough with a vegan cooking blog. The business coach who now hosts luxury retreats around the world got her start when she created an online course called "Money and Men". Another online entrepreneur started out as a dating blogger. She now has an online course to teach blogging in any niche.

The moral of this story is that no one starts with a 5 figure launch, unless they already have it in the bank. Becoming successful online is a journey, and it starts with making your first $1000.

When you master the basic skills of building an email list, getting traffic to a website, and converting visitors into buyers, you can then scale up your sales.

When you can make $100 a month, you can learn to make $1000 a month. When you can make $1000 a month, you can learn to replace your current job. When you can replace your job, well, there’s no real limit, is there???

And it all starts with learning to make your first $1000.

When a rocket launches, it is always the lift-off that takes the most energy. It takes a lot of power and thrust to not only get past the initial stage of inertia, and lift the rocket from the ground, but to also send it flying through space. That is a lot of effort.
